Clinical placement & work placement — Gain practical experience, take on responsibility

Would you like to experience medicine and nursing first-hand, rather than just learning about them from textbooks? At our hospital, we offer you the opportunity to gain valuable practical insights — in a structured, supervised way that is closely linked to everyday clinical practice.

Clinical placement in obstetrics

We offer medical students a 30-day clinical placement in obstetrics.

You can look forward to a stimulating environment offering a wide range of experiences, from normal births to complex obstetric situations, as well as assignments in the operating theatre and on the ward. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team and gain in-depth insights into clinical decision-making processes.

Work placement on our inpatient wards

Our placement opportunities on our inpatient wards offer you a comprehensive insight into inpatient care. The main areas of focus are obstetrics and gynaecological surgery, with an emphasis on modern, minimally invasive procedures and our highly specialised breast centre.

You’ll be actively involved in the day-to-day running of the ward, learn about the procedures and gain an insight into how everything fits together in a hospital.

This placement is eligible for inclusion in the practical vocational training (FpA) programme at technical colleges. The nursing placement for medical students is also recognised as a placement in the nursing service in accordance with Section 6(1) of the ÄAppO.

Important: An internship should last at least 4 weeks – We strongly recommend longer periods, as this will allow you to benefit from more intensive experiences and lasting learning outcomes.

Work placement in the operating theatre

Are you interested in the operating theatre? We offer work experience placements here too:

• Surgical Nursing: An Insight into Instrumentation, Procedures and Sterile Assistance
• Anaesthesia nursing: assisting with pre-anaesthesia preparation, monitoring and post-anaesthesia care

This will give you an insight into the procedures in the operating theatre from different perspectives.

Note regarding internship enquiries

Please note that we are unable to consider any further internship applications for periods where all places are already fully booked. It’s best to check our availability calendar in advance and apply early for available periods — this will significantly increase your chances of securing a suitable place.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer work placements to international applicants who wish to further their expertise in Germany and gain an insight into the German healthcare system.
